As summer draws to a close, it’s time to take a moment to recap on one of the most special highlights for us this year – The incredible Ferrari Tuscany Tour, giving our clients the opportunity to explore this beautiful region in the comfort of their own Prancing Horses.
All of those in attendance will agree that Tuscany truly is the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable tour, from its stunning coastal routes that run along the Tyrrhenian Sea to its quaint medieval villages and renowned cuisine. The trip began with an Al Fresco lunch at the exclusive Il Verrocchio restaurant located in the Villa La Massa hotel. It is the only restaurant in the Province of Florence that has a terrace overlooking the beautiful River Arno which was of course perfect for lunchtime dining whilst soaking up the panoramic views of the iconic Tuscan countryside.
The group then hit the road in their Ferrari’s, beginning the panoramic road tour in convoy with each other, which of course created a wonderful site of multiple Prancing Horse’s rolling through the wonderful Tuscan hills. When they reached the point of a well-needed coffee break, our clients enjoyed a guided wine cellar and abbey tour at the majestic Osteria di Passignano. Badia di Passignano, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, is an ancient monastery dating back to 395 AD and still home to the monks of Vallombrosian order, guardians of it’s cultural and historic treasures.
The first day ended with checking in and relaxing at the 5* Borgo San Felice. Borgo San Felice is a beautiful albergo diffuso and has been the only Relais & Chateaux resort in Chianti Classico since 1992, restored to its original splendor during a restoration project that brought it into the modern day without compromising its original spirit. A group welcome dinner of elegant, authentic cuisine was served at the One-Michelin star Il Poggio Rosso (located at the hotel) which respected and reflected the culinary culture of the local region.
Day two consisted of more panoramic driving in convoy, stopping off for a visit and cheese tasting at the traditional Caseificio Cugusi in Pienza. This was an opportunity to discover the culinary jewel of this region: the renowned Pecorino di Pienza – a sheep cheese that has historic origins, just like many of Tuscany’s wines. After another driving stint, lunch was served at the very elegant Il Borro Tuscan Bistro where executive chef Andrea Campani takes inspiration from the local surroundings to create exquisite Tuscan cuisine incorporating the finest, fresh local produce, celebrating the best the region has to offer.
Of course, a tour of Tuscany would not truly be complete without a visit to the famous city of Siena where our clients soaked up the rich history on the city’s winding streets and renowned piazza del Campo. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day’s touring with an unforgettable dinner in the heart of Sienna.
The third and final day was a more relaxed affair with the last of the panoramic driving completed in the morning followed by a wine cellar visit at Le Mortelle. Le Mortelle estate is in the heart of Maremma in Tuscany, set in an extraordinary position, surrounded by the natural beauty of this region, our guests had the opportunity to discover the history of this region’s wine production. Lunch at Osteria del Tasso was the perfect end to an unforgettable few days in the heart of Italy.
