A New Story Begins – We Welcome Roma Spider

Get ready for those summer drives with the newest soft top convertible

A New Story Begins – We Welcome Roma Spider

Whilst you would of all seen the authentic and refined design of the Ferrari Roma, it’s now time to introduce you to its sister model, the beautiful new Ferrari Roma Spider – timelessly elegant yet high performance, the Spider carries over the proportions, volumes, and specifications of the Ferrari Roma’s hugely successful concept.

However, what makes it so striking is the adoption of a soft top (the first since the F430 Spider in 2010), a feature making a welcome return to the Prancing Horse range, on a front-engine car 54 long years after its appearance on the 1969 365 GTS4.

The Roma Spider carries over many of the styling cues from the Roma Coupé. It’s when you look at the side profile that you see the main difference. With the roof off, this new Spider looks much more like a grand-tourer than a sports car and at the rear you have the same twin tail light design as the coupé, as well as the black trim on the boot lid. The fabric top is available in a range of different colours as well so you can personalise your car to suit your tastes.

This model uses the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as the coupé, and it uses the same eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Power wise, it provides 620hp and 760Nm of torque, as you do in the Roma coupé.

Ferrari has made quite a few tweaks to the Roma’s chassis to make sure this Spider model handles just as well as the hard-top. These mainly focus on the rear end, where the Roma Spider has a similar setup to the outgoing Ferrari Portofino for added stiffness.

Despite this, the Spider only weighs 84kg more than the Coupé version. You can raise or lower the soft top in just 13.5 seconds, and you can do it at speeds of up to 37mph.
